N3C Cancer
N3C Clinical Preamble
Because the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) has been a tremendous success with a huge public health impact, NCATS has since expanded beyond COVID to launch a pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of conducting non-COVID research using the existing secure Enclave infrastructure. The initial pilot project successfully demonstrated the ability to leverage the existing N3C infrastructure and establish efficient and scalable governance capable of studying other disorders i.e. Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias, Renal, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
With the success of the initial pilot project, N3C is now expanding its testing to focus on (a) operationalizing the process of setting up disease-specific enclaves, (b) improving the efficiency and scalability of N3C infrastructure, (c) refining governance and data contribution processes, (d) exploring new institutional partnerships and data linkages, and (e) creating an open-access environment for education and broader community engagement. Each Enclave in this expanded testing phase will have limited funding to focus on one or more of the aforementioned objectives.
N3C Cancer Enclave
Objective
The National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C) Cancer Enclave is part of a broader feasibility testing initiative being done to refine the overall governance, data linkage, and institutional partnership components of N3C. The objective of the Cancer Enclave is to test the feasibility of linking data from multiple sources to generate a comprehensive data enclave.
Can I participate?
This Enclave has limited funding. Initial participating sites and investigators are being chosen by the scientific leads of the funding institution, the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Domain-specific enclaves like Cancer and Renal are governed by data contributors. Other investigators who wish to participate still have the opportunity if their institution becomes a data contributor. Please contact kenneth.gersing@nih.gov for further details.
I am a participating investigator. How do I register?
Information on how to gain access to the Cancer Enclave as a participating investigator can be found in the dropdown menu above. Note that if you have not been formally invited to participate, you will be unable to register.
